TASC 2017, The Arts Students Convention. This convention was planned out by the second year students in my painting drawing and printmaking degree class. It involved a lot of planning and meetings about various difficulties we might have in setting such a thing up, as none of us had any real events experience.
We had to first come up with a theme to base our convention on. The consensus was that we should focus the convention on matters that we all felt strongly about.
The topics to come out of the first few discussions were;
Arts education ?
Mental health and well being concerning the arts ?
What happens when you leave art college ?
Why aren't all schools art schools ?
The convention needed a venue, which after much discussion was decided the best location would probably be inside the college. The reason behind this was that the college, the institution itself is pivitol to what the theme of the convention would be.
We had to arrange for there to be guest speakers, this was a difficult process as we had only really a few months to plan this whole thing which was something that probably needed about 5-6 months planning because of artists schedules and fundraising efforts.
In the end we had quite a few contributions to speakers,

Derek Guthrie - New Art Examiner -
Principal Andrew Brewerton
Dom Jinks - http://plymouthculture.co.uk/our-board/
Dan Wheatley - South West Arts Warehouse
Peter Ward - http://peterward-artist-illustrator.co.uk/
I took minutes a lot of the time and emailed them to everyone in the group that needed the as well as copying in lecturers so that they knew what we were up to, and how we were dealing with situations.
Several of our year group did workshops on mindfulness worth painting and origami as a mini icebreaker session to encourage people to talk to each other.
Here is some pictures of the event :)
